Me at the Godiva Festival
This is me, believe it or not, performing at last month's Godiva Festival in Coventry. Moments before I was due to go on stage, the equipment shorted out due to heavy rain. Half the audience left during the inevitable delay - there was a band playing in the next tent, so no chance of being heard without a mic - but luckily the rest stayed put rather than get soaked!
Jacqui Rowe took this photograph once I was finally on-stage, and it's a wonderfully atmospheric shot .... i.e. you can hardly tell it's me. But it's nice and smoky too, a bit sixties. So I thought I'd share it with those of you lucky enough to possess a magnifying-glass.

That's a cool pic. Like the hat. Have you got a thing for hats?!
'Godiva Festival' conjures up all sorts. I must check it out.
I never used to wear hats. Seems to be something I started to do as a mature student in my early thirties. Now I seem to wear hats all the time, though my particular favourite right now is a lovely rainbow-coloured hat, a rather ethnic-looking crochet job from the Oxford covered market. I suspect it's becoming a bit of a trademark in our quiet cul-de-sac. My next door neighbour, eyeing me satirically across the hedge only this morning, said: 'Oh, it's you. I didn't recognise you without the hat.'
A zen disguise.
I like the photo - it is indeed atmospheric!
"...eyeing me satirically across the hedge only this morning, said: 'Oh, it's you. I didn't recognise you without the hat.'"
And I thought only Irish people felt that need to bring each other down to size. Maybe s/he is Irish??!!!
I don't think the Irish have the monopoly on a sharp tongue. He's from 'up North' where folk can be just as sharp as anywhere else, I imagine.
For myself though, I have more than a few pints of Irish in me. And my reputation for cutting others down to size is considerable!
