Sad news here. Following a short illness, my mother-in-law Doreen died in the early hours, aged 83. Doreen had been suffering from Alzheimers for several years and was in a specialist home when a respiratory infection struck a few days ago and proved too strong for her.
The usual talk of flowers and funeral arrangements here. Things to keep us busy.
Not wholly unexpected, as Doreen had been very frail for some months, but always a shock when it finally happens.

I'm sorry to hear that. How is Steve bearing up?x
Fine, so far. It was expected, to a certain extent. And we've both lost a parent before, so perhaps you go into it second time round knowing what to expect, the steps to take, how things are likely to pan out.
These things are often more traumatic after the funeral, frankly. The same can be true of weddings, oddly!
Sorry for your loss, Jane, husband and family. It's always a sad time.
So sorry to hear of your loss, Jane. You're absolutely right about things being more traumatic after the funeral. That's when the shock and numbness begin to wear off. Take care of yourselves.

Jane, I've just read this now. I hope you're all doing okay.
Dear Jane
Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I hope the funeral wasn't too sad. The other day I wrote a limerick for Katy Evans-Bush so I thought it only fair to compose one for you as well. Here it is:
'There is a young poet named Jane
Whose opinions are forthright and plain.
Now we don't have to choose
Between Camper Van Blues
And boarding the Siberian train.'
Best wishes from Simon
